Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
Barack Obama
Like many people, my highlight of 2008 was the inspiration that Barack Obama has given us as Black people But even as he says, it is up to us to make changes too if there is to be any lasting change in the world.
The word Inauguration, means to formally mark the beginning of something, a new idea, new friends, new commitment to learning, new job, new business or in the case of Barack Obama, a new presidency.
Next week as he is inaugurated into presidency, the whole world is looking outwards at what one man may or may not achieve with his contribution to change.
If you are unhappy in your current situation, looking outside is not going to help you now. Many people spend time doing things they don’t enjoy and complaining about it to people that can’t help make a change.
It is time to make a change.
Sometimes formally declaring your intention out loud is all you need to do before you notice the difference you‘ve been looking for.
To live a more fulfilling life, we need to formally and decisively commit to doing something different. What one change would make your life feel better right now? Why not make the 20th January your personal inauguration and start creating yourself as the person you’ve always wanted to become.
